and he shall be called...

RUSTY

I rescued Rusty from the Goodwill today.
Like him?

Yes, I am onto the next project. I just happened to see this handsome piece at the Goodwill last night. The original price was $12.99, and honestly, after getting a couch for .99 cents, $12.99 was painful in comparison.

The good news: it's sale week at the Goodwill. Yes, hearing "sale" and "Goodwill" in the same sentence sounds redundant. Well guys, thrift stores have 50% off days and Savers has .99 cent days. I am learning the ins and outs of these places. OK, back to Rusty.

Last night I saw that he was going to be 50% off today, bringing his cost down to $6.50, which I was willing to pay. I arrived at the Goodwill bright and early to liberate him. When I got up to pay the two cashiers ogled over Rowan, his cute shoes, and just how precious he is. When the cashier said, "Your total is 12 something something...." I was like, "Oh, isn't the chair 50% off today?" "Yes, but not until 5." Hmmm. I had my mind set on a $6 dollar chair, there was no way I could pay $12. "OK, I will come back then. I don't think the chair is going anywhere." At this point the cashier that was really loving my son stepped in and said, "Oh just give it to her now." (Thank you cute baby boy for softening the hearts of the Goodwill employees.) And we were off. Me, baby, and Rusty.

Oh, and I do believe it is now my trademark, if you will, to name my pieces.

  2. Great job!!! :-) And adorable babies are ALWAYS an advantage - when they're not screaming - and even then, there's LOTS of sympathy, LOL...

  3. sounds like the dilemma we had in getting Samson. "he's not half off 'till tomorrow" it was closing time at the moment... but.. we had to come back the next day anyhow

  4. Another good find. The Salvation Army here sells their nasty used couches for at least $100. Isn't that crazy? Can't wait to see him when he's all done!
