This & That.

Rowan is still loving puzzles.  I found a set of three at Target recently for a mere $6 dollars- couldn't pass that up!  Not only because I knew Rowan would be all over it, but because these puzzles would be more challenging for him- 48 pieces per puzzle instead of 24, like the other ones he has.  And of course my boy wonder completed them all in under an hour after getting them home.
Wednesday we headed to the doctor for my monthly appointment, and she was able to tell that it was a BOY!  We were in shock.  Course I am not painting or decorating the nursery until after my next appointment- I want to be certain, but yeah, the baby appeared to have boy bits!  Crazy.
I am officially Rowan's stylist.  After many tiresome trips to the salon I finally just decided to tackle his hair myself.  He does much better at home, with a sucker, while a watching a show than he does sitting on my lap at the salon.  I bought myself the cheapest pair of scissors the salon next to us carried, and got to work.  I am pretty happy with it.  I mean, can't be any worse than what the certified beauticians did while he was kicking and screaming, right?  So here's to saving some money (after the initial cost of scissors) and learning how to cut hair!  Course I would never even think to tackle anyone elses's hair.  Good thing Rowan doesn't care about what his hair looks like!

Valentine's Day recap

We had some money left on a Target giftcard, and Jon had the brilliant idea of getting Rowan blocks for his Valentine's gift.  He loves them.
Sunday we made sugar cookies- mostly because mom couldn't wait until Tuesday to make them.

Finished up Rowan's Valentines late Monday night.
Made a real quick gift for his teachers.  Just some Hershey kisses in a festive cup.
Picked Rowan up from preschool- he's been packing his box around ever since.  He doesn't want half of the candy-but he loves showing me the "Cars" Valentines he got.

When Rowan and I got home, daddy was there for lunch.  He surprised me with a pretty rose and chocolates.  What a nice guy.  He couldn't find a vase so he was standing there holding the rose in a BSU  cup.
I had left him Valentines on the door, which he was suppose to see that morning when he left for work since his car was parked outside, but he still went out through the garage- probably because he forgot he was parked outside.  Next year I will know to put Valentines on both the front and garage door.  Anyways, he saw them when he was home for lunch.
Flowers and chocolate.  I really wasn't expecting anything- and I was OK with that- but it was a nice surprise.
Later that night I took Rowan on a little mommy son date.  We went to Arctic Circle for ice-cream- and to play, of course.  We treated Miles to a haircut on Valentine's Day.  Aren't we nice?

Hope you all had a good one!  Love you all.

Valentine's Box.

Rowan is having a Valentine exchange at preschool next week.  His teachers asked us to help him make a box for his Valentines and to bring it in this week.  So for FHE  we got our craft on.  I had Rowan decorate the paper and then I glued it on the box.  He had fun, I had fun, and he was super excited to show his teachers at school Tuesday.  He walked into his room and showed the first person he saw, which wasn't a teacher, but another parent.  Funny boy.  Here he is with his box before we left for school Tuesday.  I think he is pretty stinking cute.

choo choo the big train......

Over the summer while Rowan was going to his sensory playgroup he learned a song that went like this;

Choo choo the big train is coming down the track.
Choo choo the big train is coming down the track.
Stop, look, and listen.  Stop, look, and listen.
Choo choo the big train is coming down the track.
Choo choo the big train is coming down the track.
CHOO! CHOO!

Anyways, he loves to sing it at night before bed and do the actions that go along with it.  Super cute.  Since he has such an obsession with trains lately, we decided to go see the trains at Union Station in Ogden this past Saturday.  Oh my word.  Rowan was in heaven.  So much so that he was very mad when we had to leave.  It took a while to get him calmed down and in the car.  Next time we will go when its warmer and not so close to lunch time.

Here he is inside one of the trains.  He wanted to go inside every single one.
Daddy and Rowan on another train.
Mommy and Rowan on, you guessed it, another train.
And Rowan with some trains in the back.

We've decided that for some future FHE we're going to take Rowan on the frontrunner.  That kid wont know what to do with himself.  We pass the tracks on the way to his school, and just seeing them makes him super excited, so I am sure he'll get a big kick out of riding one.

Dinosaurs.

Rowan is loving dinosaurs right now, and since he was in need of new pj's, I couldn't resist getting him these at Costco while he was at school one day.  They were in the car when I picked him up, and as soon as he saw them he said, "DINOSAURS!"  And when we got home he immediately began to take off his clothes cause he wanted those pj's on- forget that it was only noon.  Needless to say, he is loving his pajamas, and now he insists on wearing his dinosaur or train pj's every night.  It's a good thing he has multiple pairs of dinosaur pajamas.

Snow clothes.

This year we finally bought Rowan snow boots, which was the last item he needed when it came to winter attire.  (Well, gloves- he needed those too.  Found some at the $1 store)  Jon took him out to play in the snow the same day I bought the boots.  Rowan was having fun in the snow, and then Jon got ghetto.  He grabbed the plastic pool and began pushing Rowan down the driveway.  Rowan loved it, of course, but man, every time a car drove by I was thinking, "I hope that isn't someone from church!"  Maybe next year Rowan will get the sled to go with his winter attire.

He makes me laugh.

Rowan is just funny these days.  While he generally hates hats, he found this one the other day, and willingly wore it around the house for a while.
Then later in the day he put on his toy goggles, came and showed me, and then promptly fell asleep with them on.  And yes, I removed them from his head after I took this picture.   Oh, and do you see Buzz in bed?  Yeah, while most kids- I would assume- prefer sleeping with a stuffed toy, Rowan likes Buzz to keep him company.  He'll tuck him in and say, "It's OK."  (Rowan says his room is scary at night sometimes.)
Rowan is really good with his polite words.  He'll quickly tell one of us "bless you," if we sneeze.  He's pretty good at saying thank you if you get him something- toy, drink, snack, etc.  And if we say, "thanks Rowan," he's very good about saying, "uh yo wehcome."  Oh, and please.  He says that too.  Like just now he was trying to put on his pj top, and after struggling with the arms he was like, "Mom, please."  All of it is pretty cute.  I am glad he has those words down.  He's getting pretty good about repeating anything we ask him to as well.  So we'll say, "Rowan, are you funny/silly/cute?"  And he'll always say, "Yes, I funny/silly/cute."  And yes, he is all of those things.
