Isn't this dresser amazing? I love it. I love the idea. Genius. The woman behind this beauty (and many others) is Carpenter Ant. She has a little shop where she sells pieces like this and many other "old" pieces made into "new" gems. She does it all. Look at her site, it is incredible.
She is incredible.
OK, so I was in heaven today wandering through not 1, not 2, but 3 local thrift shops. Oh the endless possibilities. So many possibilities that I freaked out a bit because 1.) I don't have the space for all the treasures I find, and 2.) I don't have the money to buy all the diamonds in the rough that I see. However, when I saw a matching desk and dresser I had my phone out faster then you can jump down, turn around, and pick a bale of cotton. "Jon, I am at the Goodwill and there is a desk and dresser that I really want to get." I said. "Where are we going to put them?" said Jon. OK, yes I know space is a problem, but if didn't get these I would be wondering about them the rest of my life. OK, maybe not the rest of my life, but I would certainly be kicking myself and hating whoever did become the lucky owners. Jon agreed to go and look at them when he got home from work. He knew I wanted them. He knew I wasn't going to leave without at least one of them. I got them both. I love him. And no, I have no idea where I am going to put them in our already cramped apartment, but I am not worried about that. At this point all I am thinking about is how the heck to get them from Goodwill to our apartment. It's a problem when a husband has a thrift store obsessed wife and no truck. It always leaves us searching for someone with a truck. So Mr. Scott Cole, if you are reading this, we need you. Once they are here safe and sound they will reside on our patio while I sand, prime, and paint, so I have a good month (at least) before I need to figure out where to put them inside our apartment. I am just hoping we can move out of our apartment at the end of August when our lease is up, and move into a rental house, preferably one with a garage. Can you imagine a garage? All that workspace and storage room! Ahh I am dreaming again. Pictures of my new beauties to come as soon as I get them from point A (Goodwill) to point B (apartment). She is incredible.

I am so jealous! There is nothing here in the way of thrift stores! So frustrating! WE have 2, but the prices are absurd! I will only pay so much for a used piece of furniture! I look forward to seeing your new treasures!
ReplyDeleteI know a guy with a truck.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to see them! I was anticipating a picture at the end of post and kept scrolling down slowly so I wouldn't see it prematurely. But no pic, and that's okay. You've given me something to look forward to in the next few days. Can't wait to see them, but more, can't wait to see what your imaginative and creative brain does with them.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at thrift stores too! I can't buy furniture anymore cuz we don't have space for it either but I do find some darn good buys on other things. I can't wait to see the treasures!! I'm so proud of you for discovering your crafty talents! Your loaded with um!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo I clicked on your link... that's where I used to live out in Massachusetts!!! Man I miss that place. And that furniture... VERY northampton! We are going there in the fall, I will have to check out her store :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you end up doing with the desk and dresser. I wish I had the knack of finding "treasures", but then I'd need to learn how to beautify them too.
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures at the Temple. You guys make such an adorable family.
And just to give you a heads up, we're going up to Mesa for my sister-in-laws birthday. Sorry I'm going to miss your visit in SV. But I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with Scott and Jill.
That's a pretty dresser. I like the antique look.
ReplyDeletecan I imagine a garage? I covet all the garages I pass while I drive down the street. I also covet all the large houses by my mom's house. :) I so wish I had more space so I could buy stuff from D.I.....goodwill...craigslist and so on so I can up-do my house. I also wish I could pull my bed away from the wall so Jared and I can sleep in the same bed. Haaa, haaa.
ReplyDeleteoh Heather dear, our time will come.
I think the ingrained leaves on the dresser are beautiful. That will be stunning when its complete.
Im postive thinking: our time will come. Just keep saying that. :)
