Random Rowan

The main reason I took this picture was to document that Rowan actually wore the Buzz slippers I bought him last year for Valentine's Day.  They're a little snug now, but hey, at least he finally wanted to wear them.  Good thing they were super cheap.
Rowan can finally almost reach the pedals on his Buzz tricycle that he got for his 2nd birthday.  I am thinking 2012 will finally be the summer he can actually ride it without being pushed!
Rowan working on one of his train puzzles.  He's pretty amazing at puzzles.

Yes, I know, his hair is shaggy.  Yes, we tried to get him a haircut.  I convinced Jon to take him this time, as I am generally the one to do it and it always goes awful.  I was hoping he'd be better for dad.  Not so much.  Jon left with Rowan shortly before I was heading out for mutual, and he was back before I had even left.  He said as soon as they got there Rowan was running laps around the place screaming.  Assuming it would only get worse from there, he grabbed Rowan and left.  What are we to do?  This problem seems to be getting worse, not better.  Of course there is the option of shaving off all his hair making the duration between haircuts even longer, but I can't bare to cut his hair off.  I love it too much.

On another note Rowan has been having some rough days at preschool.  The teacher who spoke to me thinks it might be because his class is getting larger.  If he continues to have issues they will take him to a smaller class across the hall temporarily until he calms down, but only if he causing such a fuss that it is disturbing the other kids and the teachers ability to carry on with the lesson/activities.  Overall though he has been doing really well in school and reaching the goals that were set for him when he started.  One day at a time!

We definitely have our good days and bad days with Rowan still, but things have dramatically gotten better from how they were a year ago at this time.  Then it was like all day every day.  Now it's here and there with a much shorter duration of meltdown time.  Course it is still hard when it does happen, but we're super grateful for the progress he's made and continues to make each day.  He's even willing to go into sharing time now at church.  He still insists on going to nursery for most of the time, but he'll go and sit with the Sunbeams for singing time.  Hey, you take what you can get, right?
