Randomness.

I have been obsessed with the Food Network.  I like to see what places Guy is recommending on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, and attempt to go to them if possible.  I have a few places in Boise I am wanting to try the next time I am home- in the mean time I have told my mom to try them out for me.  There are some places here in Utah I want to try too, unfortunately most of them are south of us, and we don't travel south too often solely for food.  However, Burger Bar is one place we were able to try since it's located in Roy, just north of us.
I'll be honest.  Not amazing.  The burger is big, but it's thin, and there isn't much too it.  The bun however, is quite tasty.  I think it's homemade.  I think.  Overall, good, but it's not like the one and only place I will go for a burger.  I do still need to try their shakes.
Jon and Rowan went to the store one night, and surprise surprise, came home with a puzzle.  Not just any puzzle, a THREE HUNDRED piece puzzle!  I was like, "Jon, you are taking Rowan from a 48 piece one to 300!"  And just like I assumed, Rowan lost interest after about 10 seconds, and guess who got to put the whole together- me.  Well, Jon did the boarder, and then I got to work.  Ahhhh.  Rowan doesn't not get his love of puzzles from me.  Rowan got excited when it was close to finished and helped  me with like the last eight pieces.  And then he promptly took it apart and put it away.  It was painful to watch.  Needless to say, I have hidden that puzzle.  We'll give him another go after he's completed some 100 piece puzzles- baby steps people.
 Before he got started.
 A couple hours later....
Remember that one day this week when it felt like spring?  Wasn't it great?  Rowan and I had to take advantage of the nice weather so we went for a walk.  Well, we attempted a walk.  We didn't get far.  As we walked by the second counselor's house he was coming out the front door and told us to go around back, as his wife, kids, and dog were back there.  I was like, "OK."  Now, this dog- it's more like a horse.  His name says it all- TANK.  And boy is he.  He's a Bull Mastiff- see this picture.  And Renee'- the dog owner is this little tiny short lady.  When we got around back she was holding his leash- which is  not really a leash-it's a very thick rope.  Rowan wasn't scared of this HUGE dog....at first.  All was well until the dog trampled him.  Rowan was fine- just a little shocked.  And for the rest of the time Rowan stayed on the patio- the dog can't get up there.  I ended up talking to Renee for a good hour about gardening.  She let me try some of her pepper relish- good stuff.  The kids wanted to go inside eventually , and that is how Rowan ended up with a new book.  Renee had a pile of toys in her basement- Rowan was in heaven- and he found a tractor book.  Renee let Rowan have it, as her son is 11 now.  We eventually headed home.

  2. You should try a shake the next time you go to the Burger Bar--they are yummy! Rachel loved puzzles at that age too. It was nice cuz she was kind of obsessed for awhile so if she was ever bored I would just suggest that she do a puzzle and that would keep her busy for awhile. I was so impressed that she could do a 100 piece puzzle when she was only in pre-school;) I bet Rowan could do a 100 piecer if you gave him one!
