It's kind of weird to sign up for a run in November that you wont actually be running until May. Like everything, it was here before I knew it....and of course I wasn't ready.
I do give mad props to the Ogden 1/2 peeps for the sweet expo the day before the race. I'll know to bring more money next time! And of course I couldn't pass up a photo op when I saw this sweet setup on our way to the car.
I was so happy I didn't have to wake-up at the crack of dawn to catch a bus to the start. (Thanks Kelly!) After fighting our way through the crowd , dropping off our drop bags, and hitting the port-o-potties, we headed for the start. The gun had already gone off, so we (Carol & me) started about 7 minutes after gun time. There were a couple hick-ups initially. My phone didn't connect to Pandora for the first 2 or so miles so I had to listen to the two songs I have downloaded on my phone over and over. I was so relieved when Pandora kicked in! A high was running by the reservoir and looking back over the awesome view. The downhill portion of the run that followed was pretty great too. Kind of hated the last couple miles. I slacked on training runs (I say that a lot....maybe I should be a little better about those with future runs). After crossing the finish line I saw my friend Ana from the ward so that was fun. And right after that I heard Craig hollering for me. He told my Jon and the boys were somewhere so I immediately began looking for them. That was so fun to see them all there- the first official race Jon has seen me finish.
While we were walking around we found our friends from the ward that had also run the race and got some pictures. This was Ana and Matt's first 1/2 and they both did great.
Ana has had an amazing fitness journey over the last couple of years. She first lost a good 25-30 (?) pounds, then she completed her first 5K which was big for her since she "couldn't run." She did the couch to 5K program. Then she had a baby, and 5 months after giving birth she ran her first 1/2! She's amazing.
My cheering squad. It was nice to have them there.
Little did Jon know he'd been running his 1st 1/2 in 2 months!
MORE BLING! I am kind of obsessed.
I never saw Carol during or at the finish, so we had to snap a picture after at home. 3rd 1/2 with Carol! Pretty great to have a mother-in-law who is game for this at 62!

Congratulations! So glad your posting! I'm proud of you and your accomplishments.
