I didn't have to be too patient after all...
I'm in love with these.

Just a little something to spruce up the bathroom.
OK, so the hubs and I made a compromise last night. He got something and I got something. Needless to say what he wanted....men. I told him I would keep my splurge under $50, and I also started looking for a PT job that I could fit in on weeknights 2-3 days a week. Nothing major, just something to bring in a little extra so we feel like we can live a little. I of course rushed back to TJ Maxx today to get my lovely red shoes and 1 of the 2 home decor items I wanted. I also had enough to get a dress to wear on the 16th when Rowan is blessed. (I really didn't want to have to wear one of my maternity garbs.) I've quenched my thirst to "splurge" on myself. Now I can focus on getting Christmas shopping done, which I am going to spread out over the next month and a 1/2. I think getting it all done slowly wont make it seem like such a dent in my wallet. And just a sidenote: I hope you all don't think I am some shopaholic. I'm not. When I do shop I shop at places like Ross, TJ Maxx, Old Navy, Target and Goodwill- everything there is 50% off every other Saturday. (I especially like to go there for home decor items that become gems once I change the look of them by way of spray paint, fabric, and whatever else I can think of). And I wear out the things I do get- I still wear clothes from my high school days. I am not a fashionista who has to stay current with the trends- I mean, I still wear my gauchos- heck yes I do- those things are comfy. So yes I do like to shop every now and then but by no means am I going into debt over trivial things. I know when to stop and just say no.
oh Heather! Im so happy you got your shoes!!! And Yes I do like your bathroom accessory too. Im so happy you even had enough for a dress, theres nothing better to wear than a new dress and shoes for church.
ReplyDeleteIm sorry your "stripping of membranes" hurt so much! I kept thinking, is this it? What on earth is everyone talking about? Pain? Posh!!! Im sure Ill be eating my words when true hard core contractions come on. :) Its true for sure though that everyone has their levels of threshold for pain.
I cant wait to see pictures of Rowan's blessing. The sweet little boy.
Those shoes are FAB! Where are you looking for work? May I suggest Pier 1 imports. I loved that job, and I was able to get some great things for cheap, cheap, cheap. Just a thought. Be careful though. You get a job where you like to shop you never bring home a paycheck!
ReplyDeleteLOL loved what Jill had to say. I agree with her though. I'm glad that you were able to buy something for yourself. You know? Now-a-days, since I don't have the money to SPEND on what I WANT!?!?! I actually appreciate it more when I save for something and then buy it! It's like... "ooooh yay! I FINALLY got it!" Cute shoes!
ReplyDeleteOh the fact that God does know His children is evidenced by the beauty in shoes; and those are lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your towel rackish. Bargain finds are the best. Well done.
Beautiful shoes but I;m sure glad your wearing them and not me! I just can't wear those anymore. Old age and weight seems to be the culprit! Whaaaaaa! I do love the bathroom accessory and would love to find one of those myself! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute, and I have to admitt that I have been sneeking in and looking at your blog for quite a long time now....hehehe
ReplyDeleteof course I remember you, even if we really didn't know each other that well at all. having mutual friends always makes it feel like we are indeed close friends....
I knew that striping membranes sounded worse than hillary made it seem! just happy that I don't have to do that...ever!!!!
Rowan is just adorable, and seeing your cute pics of him makes me excited for my little man to come out of this giant belly of mine!
I also share your love for bargains at those stores, I am a shopaholic though, but only for the good cheap finds of course. I love second hand for my kids, best thing ever for my budget!
anywho, very long comment indeed, I shall stop now! :)
Hmm, to answer your questions, I hadn't seen those plates, but the technique is that you print designs that you want on sticker paper, and then put it on the plate, and use paint that is for ceramics. You paint it over the whole plate, and then after it is dry you peel the sticker off and then you cure it, usually you bake. http://www.designmom.com/2008/05/more-refurbished-plate-411.html
ReplyDeleteis that what you were talking about?
Those shoes are SASSY, woman! Love 'em! :-) Wish I could pull off something that fun, but I think that's a few (negative) pounds away, LOL... congrats on those and your cute bathroom decor!
ReplyDeleteI love the towel rack! Very nice. Every once in a while I like to splurge on myself too. But that only happens like twice a year it seems like. Glad you and baby Rowan are doing well.
ReplyDeleteHeather I don't think anyone thinks you are a shopaholic for buying a cute pair of shoes. Way to go. Splurging is awesome. I think a part-time job will help getting out of the house too. Can't wait to see the dress in the blessing pictures.
