Christmas

santa came to our house. i left the lights on the tree on all night so when we awoke in the morning we'd be greeted with this pleasant sight. Lovely, don't you agree?

my little angel with his gifts.

this "little people" airplane was a favorite. rowan thanks his cousins for this super fun toy!

this "sassy car wash" from uncle chris and aunt princess was another winner. we made the mistake of letting him open it first. i say mistake because once it was opened he wasn't interested in the rest of the gifts (the airplane came later in the day) and was content to sit and play while daddy and i opened the rest of the gifts- including his.

before the ripping into packages began, he was having a good time with the pool rack.
"here dad, let's see if it fits on your head."

he did a pretty good job going through his stocking. the favorite item in there: the fruit snacks. that's my boy!

daddy is really good at showing delight in his stocking goods. his favorite: the dark chocolate "orange."

whew! so many presents to unwrap. rowan needed a break.

of course jon had to throw in one of his custom wrap jobs. i'll give you one guess what he got me.

and kitty cat cole had a good time in empty boxes and bags.

lessons learned from Christmas 2009:
1.) don't wrap a 15 month old's gifts. it's pointless - unless you want to unwrap your gifts + some.
2.) meatloaf always takes longer to cook then the recipe specifies.
3.) don't make a huge salad that has nuts, feta cheese, onion, and pears in it and not expect leftovers.
4.) next year just buy cinnamon rolls for breakfast instead of getting up two hours early to make them from scratch. two words: BIG dissapointment.
5.) don't send a framed picture through the mail unless you want said framed picture to end up in pieces by the time it reaches it's final destination.
6.) don't buy husband a leather coat, go to great lengths to keep it a surprise, and expect him to love it as much as you thought he would. long story short: the coat was returned the next day and traded in for two pairs of pants. BUT he does look dang good in the pants, so i am ok with it.

all in all it was a good day. we hope yours was as well.

  4. love all the pictures. glad that rowan liked his airplane. i love the picture of him laying on the wrapping paper. and the reason why wade no longer receives clothes as gifts is because he never likes what anyone gets him. so maybe jon should just get used to gift cards.
