NOT!
Check out those nails! This dude is in need of a major pedicure!(Reminds me of Jim Carrey's tonails on Dumb & Dumber)
See the big hole he tore in the screen?
OK, so Sunday night I am sitting at the computer, and directly behind me is the playroom. At this point Rowan was in bed down the hall. I start to hear noises coming from the room, and so I assume Miles has made his way in there to sleep. He does this from time to time. Well, the noise continues, and is getting annoying. I am yelling, "Miles!" Now normally Miles would come out and I would send him on his merry way, but Miles did not come. I began to wonder, "What the?" I head into the room expecting to find Miles balled up on a pillow sleeping, but no. However, the noise continues and I quickly realize it's coming from the window well area. The blinds are down, and there is no way I am peaking cause I didn't know what the heck I was going to find. I get Jon, tell him what has been going on, and he goes to investigate. We slowly pull up the blinds and there in the corner wedged between the glass and the screen is our new friend, the muskrat. I seriously thought he was dead cause he was not moving, but he was just faking it. Well, he wiggles himself out of the ginormous hole he has created in the screen and plops himself on the ground in the window well. At this point I am telling Jon to get the small pellet gun, but there is just something sick and wrong about shooting an animal that's a sitting duck. He did try and scare it off, but with no luck. The next morning he was still sitting on the ground in the corner of the window well. I looked today and can't see him, but I'll know tonight if he really is gone. He seems to like to make all the noise at night. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the varmint if he's still around?

That little guy looks scary! No suggestions, besides scooping him out. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteyikes! I wonder if there are humane traps for rodents that size.
ReplyDeleteWhen we had the skunk in the back yard that stuck his head in that cement hole in the patio? (in Missoula) We called the Humane Society (I think) and they came and got him out of that. That little bugger is kinda scary looking! Too bad Rowan didn't get to see him!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you had Jon look for you. I would have jumped and freaked out if I saw that in my window. I would call someone to come and get him out if he doesn't get out on his own.
ReplyDeleteWe had a gopher in our window well in Boise growing up. My dad went out with a shovel and took care of it. I don't have the stomach for that, but my dad grew up on a farm, so stuff like that doesn't phase him. Call a rodent catcher?
ReplyDeleteHis long nails and scary teeth are freaking me out! I have no idea, good luck!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I would have had serious laundry issues if I'd opened the blinds.
ReplyDeleteActually, I probably would've had serious laundry issues watching *someone else* open the blinds, too. ;)
Maybe put a board in the well that he could climb up; he's used to sticks in the river & all, right? Yikes... and he's gonna be a cranky little guy after being stuck there for two days. Good luck!!!
wade says you have to kill it. i mean craig was trying to kill a muskrat (maybe this guy's brother) forever out in the pond. wade said he would've taken a shovel to it. gross. that is so gross that it was stuck in the window. yuck. yuck. yuck.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a muskrat up close before. Those are some nasty claws! That would scare the crap out of me! Kinda funny though to find him trapped...hope he goes away!
