My little Ro-bro.

I know I am bound to get all emotional and a little bit sad in a few months when it starts to sink in that Rowan isn't going to be my "baby" anymore.  I know he'll always be my first baby, but I also know things are going to change, and I wont be able to devote so much time to just him.  That makes me a little sad.  More so for him.  I hope when the new baby comes he still knows how much daddy and I love him.  I hope we're successful at making sure he is getting the attention and one-on-one time he needs.
Here's Rowan rocking his big boy undies- unfortunately, there is a diaper on underneath.  I have kind of given up on potty training.  I am leaving it up to Rowan to decide when he is ready- I just hope it is soon!
Rowan is a fan of fresh bread.  He never asks for just a piece of store-bought bread, but if I make any in the bread machine, he's all over it.
Since I want to get the nursery set up before I get too huge, we needed to get Rowan out of the toddler bed and into a real big boy bed.  We had grandpa's truck a week or so ago so I sent Jon out to buy a mattress while we had a way to transport it.  Rowan made the transition easy-peasy.  I think he enjoys having more space- and I assume this mattress is just a wee bit comfier than the crib mattress!  We have a bed frame, but like everything in our house, it's a project.  It's primed, now I just need to decide on what color to paint it.  I am also debating on whether I want to buy him a comforter or quilt something.  Of course I am leaning towards the latter because I seem to the enjoy having an endless amount of projects on my to-do list!
While I was weeding in the yard last week I let Rowan run around in a swim diaper.  I did turn the sprinkler on for him, but he never got too  wet.  It wasn't super hot out, so I am sure that deterred him a bit.  Plus, I just love seeing my skinny kid in a swim diaper.  It just reminds me of an old man in a speedo.  On a side note, our neighbor's crispy burnt house should be getting torn down very soon- hopefully in the next week or two!  It'll be nice to have the eyesore gone!  HOPEFULLY their new house will be built within the next four months.  I want it finished by then at least because the baby's room is on the far side of the house, and I really don't want it be too noisy when he arrives.
Rowan is a cheese ball, and I love him for it.
When Rowan got tired of running through the sprinkler, he "worked" on the garden.  Don't all men do construction work in their swimsuits?  Only real men I guess.  He's multitasking- working on his tan while being productive!
I made the mistake of taking Rowan into Big Lots recently.  I don't even remember why I wanted to go there.  The store is moving locations, so everything was 50% off.  Of course Rowan spotted all the toys and wasn't going to leave happy without "his Thomas."  Here is the thing, we don't buy a lot of toys for Rowan- especially at random.  And if we do buy him something out of the blue, it's usually educational- like puzzles.  And even then we spend $5 or less.  So me giving in and letting him get "his Thomas" (mostly to avoid a meltdown) was a big deal- especially considering it exceeded my $5 toy limit.  In the end I forked over $15 bucks to make this kid one happy camper.  Luckily he has played with it a lot so that makes me feel better about the purchase.  And seeing that it- and others like it- normally retail for $30+ made me happy too.
Last but not least, me and my first baby boy.  I have got to remember to soak up all the time I have with just him in the next few months.  It's just been the two of us during the days for 3+ years, so it's going to be a big change for both of us.  A good change, but new is always scary!

  1. Well our little RoBro is definitely growing up and He will be a good BIG BROTHER!!
I can't believe it was warm enough for him to be out in a diaper only! Wish we had some weather like that.
Check with your Dr. if you plan to paint anything. According to Michele, it's not good for you so be sure and ask!!
    HUGS TO ALL!!

  2. The fact that you are worried about it before the baby is even here already means you will be just fine when it comes to giving Rowan attention :) Going from 1 to 2 is the biggest adjustment, but I promise you will be wonderful! Sorry that he isn't taking to the whole potty thing.....boo for that. My 1st was the HARDEST to potty train, with no siblings to show them the ropes its basically up to them to WANT to do it. Unfortunatly! Good luck with the upcoming projects before the babe :)
