Quick weekend Easter trip.

Well, I finally made it to Boise.  Four days later than originally planned thanks to the punks who smashed in one of the windows on our other car, but, as they say, better late than never!  Obviously, I didn't get to see everyone I wanted to (sorry friends!) or complete any sewing projects for the nursery, but it was still nice to go home and see my family.
After the car troubles the trip was in limbo and my mom wasn't sure if I was coming or not.  Rowan and I surprised her at work Thursday afternoon.  I had been craving a specific Mexican pizza served at a restaurant in Kuna, so after she got off we went and picked up Tony and headed there.  Mmm.  It was good and didn't disappoint.
While my mom and I were busy Friday morning and afternoon preparing food for her YW fundraiser that night, Rowan stayed entertained with puzzles (he got a new dinosaur one while we were there), Toy Story 2, and grandma's ginormous trunk of toys.
Friday my mom was busy cooking and preparing for a YW fundraiser she had that night.  (She is the YW president in her ward)  We hung out around her house, and when she headed out for the night Rowan and I headed to Kuna.  My sister's oldest daughter volunteered to babysit Rowan and her little brother.  I was able to go out with my sister, her husband, and my nephew.  We really lived it up by going to Chuck-O-Rama, which, I have to say is better than the Golden Corral due to the fact that they serve rice pudding.  Traci got a couple Redbox movies on the way home, but I passed on watching them in favor of bed.  Rowan didn't nap while we were there, so by the time 9 pm rolled around I was ready for bed.
He didn't nap at all while we were there, so every time we got in the car to go somewhere he always fell asleep within minutes.  You know this kid is tired when he falls asleep with a sucker in his hand.
Saturday I was able to meet up with my dad and "little" brother Gavin.  I can't believe how big he is now!  He's graduating from high school in June.  All of this makes me feel very old since I can remember babysitting him when he was just a little baby.
Rowan was kind enough to pose for a picture with papa Gordon.
Saturday afternoon we headed to an Easter potluck and egg hunt.  Mom and I made some Easter basket cupcakes.
Rowan really could care less about the goodies in the eggs- he's not a jelly bean and chocolate kind of kid, but he enjoyed running around the yard finding them.
Rowan and some cousins after the hunt.  He was more interested in playing on the swing set and would have left his eggs behind had I not told him to go and get them.
Sunday morning my mom and Tony had stake conference.  My mom had taken a vicodin Saturday night right before she headed to the Saturday evening session, and it wiped her out, so we went on a walk to the park near their house to clear her head.  Rowan played on the playground  while grandma and grandpa walked.  (And my mom only took a vicodin because her arm has been giving her fits- turns out she has a torn rotator cuff.)
After we got home I hid Rowan's Easter bucket in the yard and let him find it.  He got a dinosaur, two puzzles, and a few eggs full of candy I know he'll eat- Skittles and Starburst.
And grandma gave him a bag of suckers- another treat he enjoys.  Here he is with his Easter loot.
He didn't waste any time once we were inside to dig in.
Grandma was impressed with his puzzle skills.  Here is Rowan and grandma working on one of the new ones he got for Easter.

I had thought about heading home Monday morning, but decided to leave Sunday afternoon around Rowan's nap time.  That way he'd sleep for some of the trip and not be utterly bored by the drive.  I really need to invest in a portable DVD player.  He didn't sleep as long as I thought he would, but he was really good and entertained himself with a straw and his new dinosaur.  We got home around 8pm, and Rowan quickly got to work on his puzzles while I unpacked.

Oh, and I even came home to a clean house!  I was super impressed with Jon.  He even cleaned the kitchen floors!  Definitely nice to come to a clean house after an exhausting weekend.
