That is all the junk that was in our a/c unit, which came from our air ducts- courtesy of the builders.
Sheesh when it rains it poors. Not only did it rain literally this weekend, but we got rained on figuratively as well. It all started last Sunday when Jon noticed that carpet in the basement was wet. The fact that the carpet was wet wasn't a big deal since it's just remnant carpet, the big deal was WHY was the carpet wet. Assuming it had something to do with the a/c we called a local a/c company, but since it was Sunday they weren't around and we didn't want to pay extra money to have them come out on a non-business day. In the mean time Jon changed the filter and we put down towels to soak up the water from the carpet. The next day I called and spoke a customer service rep, and she thought changing the filter would fix the problem, and to give it a couple days to see if that was the case. I was happy to hear that since I didn't really want to pay to have the a/c fixed. The water problem did seem to stop, but their was still a problem with the a/c. We had our a/c set at 76, and the house was only getting cooled down to 80. Crap. So in the end we had to have the a/c guy come to the house. Long story short- half a grand later the a/c is working properly. Thank heavens for savings, not that that is what I wanted to spend it on. There were a couple things wrong. 1.) the quality builders had swept a bunch of crap into the air ducts and now much of that junk had found it's way into the a/c unit. 2.) The coils or something or other were really dirty- partly because Jon had put the filter in wrong, but I am sure that some of the dirt had begun to build up before that. To top it off the repairman tells me that we should probably plan on having to replace the whole thing in a couple years. And did you know that they range from $6,000-15,000! HOLY COW! Ouch. Let's hope we don't need a new car at the same time we need a new a/c! And let's hope Jon gets a raise or a better job in the next couple of years.
See that cookie tray of rust? Yeah, not normal. And then another picture of the coils with junk that isn't suppose to be there.
So that all happened Thursday morning, but even before the a/c guy had gotten to our house Thursday morning, Jon woke me up just before he left for work to tell me that his Ipod had been stolen from his car. Awesome. That makes the third time something has happened to Jon's car while sitting in our driveway in the past two years, and the fifth thing that has happened to it in the past five. (It was hit and dented in our apt complex in AZ, and week after that it was broken into in the same apt complex.) Needless to say, I am so sick and tired of crap happening to his car!
Fast forward to THURSDAY NIGHT. After picking up some things from Walmart we're getting in our car when Jon says, "Heather, I just found this." I look over and he has a wad of cash. The outside bill is $100. Course after the day we'd had I wanted to keep it, but we both knew we couldn't. We also don't feel comfortable leaving it with the customer service people at Walmart. I don't know how the heck I knew this, or if it's something a lot of people know, but I knew we could call the police and turn it in. I also knew that we could have it if it hadn't been claimed after X amount of days. So that is what we did. We were told that a police office would be by our house shortly to get the money. Before leaving Walmart we pulled our car into a different spot to watch and observe the cars we had been parked next to. We assumed which car it might have fallen from, so we wanted to play stakeout and see if someone came out and looked like they were searching for lost cash. After ten minutes, and no people, we headed home since we didn't know when the cop would be there. The officer arrived and funny enough it was the same office that had to come unlock our car door on the fourth of July after Jon had locked Rowan inside the car- which was running. Did I fail to mention that incident? Anyways, if the money is not claimed in 90 days then we can have the money, which will most likely get put towards a new Ipod for Jon.
OK, so things were looking up........UNTIL Saturday afternoon when we were out and about and Jon got pulled over. He was getting off at the Riverdale exit and didn't know that it only had one lane, so he ended up driving in the gorge (?) for a brief period of time because he had to get over at the last second. Then he didn't make a complete stop right before he made a turn. So the main reason he was pulled over was for the whole driving in the gorge thing, but it didn't help that he failed to make a complete stop. In the end he got a warning for the incomplete stop, but he got a ticket for the gorge thing.
This weekend needs to end soon cause we can't afford anymore mishaps! Here's to hoping we get to keep the money we found in the Walmart parking lot! Oh, it was a $121 bucks total. Not close to what we ended up losing this weekend, but hey, I'll take it!
Gah! That was a hard weekend for you for sure! I hope Rowan was good at Maddox. Sorry again about the mix up. I hope you get to keep the money, and that nothing else goes wrong with your house. Seriously, I am beginning to think Jon's car is cursed!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! The week end from hell (unless you get to keep the money! Lets pray for that!!
