Rowan, Rowan, Rowan.
Oh this kid. Today was the primary program. I remember watching the program last year and thinking, "Wow, Rowan is going to be in that next year. EEK!" And of course I have been worrying ever since that he wouldn't be ready for it. A few weeks ago a primary leader came by the house to drop off a slip of paper with his part on it. What?! Really?! They were actually going to give him a part? OK. So we began working on his part. He was suppose to say, "I have learned that every choice has a consequence." Surprisingly, he learned it and would randomly say to us whenever, wherever. He would finish it if we started it. He knew it. Course with Rowan that doesn't mean much and we had no idea what to expect as we headed out the door for church today. The time came for all the kids to gather on the stage and he went willingly. Course once he was up there he began shooting the audience with his fingers, laying on the floor, stood when he was suppose to be sitting, so on and so forth. After one song the sunbeams were lined up in front of a mic. It was showtime. As always, some performed better than others, there was that one child who always blows every one's minds and says some crazy long thing from heart, and leaves everyone thinking, "They're only three!?" And then there was Rowan who, when it was his turn, got up and said, "here, here, here, here." Funny, but also not close to what he was suppose to have said. Why the repetitive here, here, here, I have no idea. Course everyone chuckled, including us, but inside my heart broke a little cause I knew he knew his part and I was really hoping he would get up there and say it. He continued to be defiant on stage, and, eventually got carried out by a leader when he got a little too loud after they tried to get him to sit in his chair or something. Jon met them in the hall and brought him back to sit with us, where he continued to be a little ornery and uncooperative. And that is how his first primary program went. I suppose it could have been worse, right?

I think just that he went up there and "tried" to say his part is huge. His progress has been great and it's going to keep on getting better.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kelly!! He's come a long way and we all know he knew it!! He's a smart little tyke!! Be patient and grateful that he can say his part to you! Heavenly Father knows he knew it as well! And besides, it's always fun to have a little humor in the Primary programs!! lol It's all good!
