It's been a fun weekend, and there's still a family dinner to come. Friday we just went out as a family looking for new winter gloves for Rowan since he managed to lose his at school. After looking at Target and Old Navy and coming up empty handed, we tried Walmart. Winner. So once Rowan was set, we topped off the evening with shakes and headed home.
Saturday I was off to meet my BFF's for some lunch in SLC. And since Kristi had never met Sawyer he came along with me while Rowan stayed with dad. After deciding on where to eat (Noodles) we sat down with our grub and talked long after the food was gone. And since I wasn't quite ready to head home we headed out again to find dessert. Gourmandise was just down the street, and let me just say, if you live in SLC and have never been, GO! So yummy. They have like three case fulls of various pastry concoctions to choose from. They all look so good. I finally decided on the strawberry napoleon which was super delicious. Jenny's dessert literally looked like a porcupine, and Kristi played it safe with mini eclairs, but really, you can never go wrong with an eclair. Finally we parted ways, but it's always nice to meet up with these two every few months.
When I got home Jon and Rowan were parked on the couch looking at the books they had picked up from the library. While Jon was at the library he saw that he could vote early there today so he did. And since I didn't want to deal with the lines on election day, I got right back in the car and went and voted too. So that's taken care of and I don't think I will ever vote on election day again if I can help it. Anyways, Jon and Rowan had also picked up pumpkins while I was gone since I had asked Jon Friday night when we were going to carve pumpkins this year. We called our friends (same ones who we carved with last year) but they were unavailable to join us, so we loaded up the car and went Jon's parent's house. Cause we're really good at crashing in on them at random. My husband just can't be at home for too long- seriously, the guy goes stir crazy. Course after getting to his parent's house Jon gets out of the car and says, "I forgot the pumpkins!" SERIOUSLY!? You just now realized this? I am use to Jon and his spacey ways so I have become quite good at countering his spaceyness but the problem is, I saw him take the pumpkins out. What I didn't know was that he had put them in his car- the one we never ride in as a family because it doesn't have the carseats. So shortly after arriving at his parents I was once again back in the car going to the grocery store down the street to pick up another pumpkin. And since we still had three at home I only bought one for Jon to carve and two baby ones for Rowan to decorate.
So while Sawyer slept in grandma's crib we got messy. Rowan loved it. He wanted nothing to do with digging the guts out, but he enjoyed watching daddy.
And he had fun telling grandma what to draw on his pumpkin.
And here we are with daddy's masterpiece which we let grandma and grandpa keep since they have no pumpkins and we still have three at home that need to be carved. Hope Jon has more ideas up his sleeve! Now I am pooped and going to bed for a couple of hours before Sawyer decides he wants a snack.
That is sooooo funny!! The pumpkin turned out cool! Can't wait to see Rowan in his costume! Be sure and get his picture as well as Sawyer with my silly candy bar! Hugs and Happy Halloween!!
