May happenings.

WARNING-:Looong post, lots of pictures.  It's what happens when you post once a month!
First of, is May really over already?  Seriously, time is flying.  Before we know it it's going to be Christmas and we'll be saying goodbye to 2013.  Crazy.  Here's the lowdown for the month of May.  Can you believe I use to post like once a day?
Running with Angels 5K at Thanksgiving Point.  My friends, Matt and Susanna, invited Jon and I to run it with them since Susanna's sister and husband had to bail at the last minute.  Jon was sick and not up to it, but I was game for running a 5k for free.  So I woke up bright and early Saturday morning so I could meet Matt and Susanna at their hotel by 6:30 am.  From there we drove over to Thanksgiving Point to grab our packets and get ready.  I really had no goal for this run.  I was just doing it to do it, and considering it another run for the week.  But seriously, something just happens when you're in a "race" and I found myself wanting to get past this person and then that person, so on and so forth.  Susanna and I really planned on running together, but in the end that didn't happen.  I was able to squeeze by some guy and his stroller at the end of mile 1 and then he closed up the gap and Susanna was left stuck behind him.  Bummer.  And, silly me, forgot to check the battery on my music player, and so I was without music for the last 2 1/2 miles.  I blame the lack of music for my lack in speed.  I also blame the torrential down poor for making me think I had a pretty good pace going when in fact I didn't.  Apparently running in the rain makes you feel like you are running fast.  At least I remember thinking to myself, "My hands are really cold, so I am going to run faster so I can finish and get warm."
And we did finish.  All be it a bit more wet than when we started.  Pardon the nippage.  Yes, a new sports bra is on my birthday wishlist.  One with padding please.  You hear that Jon?  When I saw the finish line and the clock to the right of it, I was shocked to see it had been more than 30 minutes, cause I swear I was running much faster than that, but oh well.  There's always next time, right?  In the end my time was 30:54.  Would have nice to get an even 30, cause you know, I am 30, but I guess I am closer to 31 now that my birthday is a mere 20 days away.  Eek.
All in all it was fun.  We didn't stay long afterwards.  We went and got our results, grabbed some food (soggy bagel anyone?), got a couple pictures, and hit the road.  I changed into the t-shirt I got to make the drive home a little more comfortable.  A hot shower never felt so good.
My friend Amy and I took the kids on a walk through the hollow and let them play in the water for a bit.  Course Rowan ended up half naked.  I'm impressed his shirt stayed on.
All kids need is water and rocks to be in heaven.  Oh, and Otter Pops, those help too.
The kids had fun and eventually we were able to get them to leave.  Rowan even walked the whole way, which is amazing cause normally he wants me to carry him or kick Sawyer out of the stroller.
And Sawyer enjoyed himself too.  See, he's clapping he had such a grand time.
Yummy dinner at some restaurant inside some hotel in Ogden.  I tell ya, kids have made my memory go downhill.
I met up with my Idaho gal pals in SLC this past weekend.  Jenny's maternity leave is ending and Kristi is having her fourth baby around the same time (my birthday is her due date- wasn't that sweet of her to plan it like that?), so we figured we'd better meet up before things got really crazy.
So yes, I got to finally meet Jenny's new little baby boy.  His name is Marcus and he is just the sweetest TINIEST 2 month old I have ever seen.  I couldn't believe how small he was!  Maybe it's cause I am use to my chunky monkey, but seriously, Marcus is still wearing newborn clothes, and just barely got out of newborn diapers!  I think Sawyer lasted a week in newborn diapers!  Holding a tiny baby sure makes you realize your own baby isn't so much a baby.
And we decided to eat at Gourmandise since we knew we liked their desserts.  Their food isn't bad either!  I got 1/2 a Brie Bartlet Panini that was ooey gooey goodness.
Then we each got a dessert.  And they have so many yummy looking desserts that it easily took us 10 minutes of looking in the display cases to decide on which to get.  I went with the pear tartlet.  Apparently pears were calling my name that day.  Also good, but I am OK to try something different next time.

After a good three hours of sitting, eating, and talking I bid the girls farewell before returning to the chaos at home.
That evening my brother Gavin showed up.  He's working at Blendtec again this summer, so he stopped in and stayed the night before heading to Orem the next afternoon.
I made us some warm cookie Sundaes while Jon and Gavin set up the trampoline.  Boy was I glad Gavin was here to help with that!

And the munchkins hung out while the men got to work.

All done.  Now we just need to put up the net.
The boys testing it out.  Rowan has had a lot of fun with it so far.  I am looking forward to sleeping on it.  I did that all the time growing up.
Had to get some updated pics with Gavin.  He's grown into such a handsome awesome young man.
And  yes, when I babysat him as a baby I once put him doll clothes after the clothes he was wearing got dirty.  What?  I was resourceful people!  And no, he will not let me live that one down.
These pictures kill me.  Sunday Sawyer was just hanging out with Gavin on the couch.  I thought it was so cute that I snapped a picture.

About five minutes later this is what I saw.  Talk about cuteness overload!   Again, snapped another picture.
On Memorial Day we took the boys for a bike ride.  Jon took Rowan in the bike trailer, and I was able to use my friend's bike and carrier for me and Sawyer.

But we put Sawyer in the bike trailer about half way through cause he was sleepy and getting fussy.

And in the afternoon we went to the cemetery to see Grandpa Larson's headstone.  We hadn't been back since his funeral.
We decided to sing a song while we were there.  I thought it would be nice to sing Families Can Be Together Forever, but Rowan doesn't know it, so we went with I Am a Child of God.

It was a great holiday weekend and we had a lot of fun together as a family.  I sure miss the three day weekends that Jon use to have.  I just feel like we don't have a lot of time during the weekends anymore.  Saturdays are just so jam packed.  Oh well, guess it makes the time we do get to spend together now that much sweeter.
