WHAT IS THAT??!!

I knew the day would probably come but a small part of me hoped and prayed I would luck out. I am not so fortunate it would seem. They have made their appearance and I am afraid they are here to stay. All you mommas know what I speak of- STRETCH MARKS. Yep, I have discovered some in various places around my growing midsection. I know my son will be worth it in the end but for now I need all of you mommas to tell me it's OK because you have them too- and if don't, LIE. And of course throw in any helpful tips you may have on keeping stretch marks at a minimum- my mom has thrown out baby oil- the greasing of the belly on a regular basis. For now I am going to do a workout tape and try to make a better effort at keeping my weight gain between the recommended 25-30 lbs. Please tell me after I have this little guy that these bad boys (my stretch marks- not the baby) will shrink down and be hard to see- once again, LIE if you have to.

  1. I totally know how you feel. I rubbed cocoa butter on my belly twice a day until Jack was born... I still got stretch marks 2 weeks before he was born. I don't think that stuff really works... just love them... it's all part of the beauty! Right?!? Mine totally faded afterwards, you can hardly see them. I probably won't be wearing any midrifs.. haha...

  2. I've heard good things about Vitamin E oil/ointment... I was too busy (lazy? ;-P) to care, LOL, but I've also heard that getting the nutrition you need (fatty acids & healthy oils & water & all) can help your skin be more elastic, too.

And yep, they do fade :-).

Keep eating healthy and feel great about being a mommy! :-)

  3. Oh cutie, aren't they fun. Josh would always make fun of me and say my stomach looked like it was on fire. Hopefully Jon is nicer to you! The hardest for me was just keeping lotion on my belly. It seemed like it was always a little itchy from stretching. They do fade, and one day our bodies will be perfect again! So just give it time.

  7. They really do fade, hardly noticeable. I do still drench my stomach in body butter just in case it helps. I'd recommend lotion that doesn't contain mineral oil, just works better.

  8. Ahh yes, stretch marks. Yes, I too have them - and I believe they are multiplying at an exponential rate. I have found that even sweet, sweet palmer's cocoa butter does not prevent them. I do like to imagine that it lessens them. So I am sticking to that theory - cocoa butter, buckets and buckets of cocoa butter.

  9. Yes I thought Id be one of those ones who was bless without any, but alas I got them too. Not very much and youre quite fit so I doubt youll get very much too but I used cocoa butter with Valeri, but with this one cocoa butter totally STINKS and I dont think I can use it, so Im going to use this oil from Sensaria from a plant, they call it liquid gold. Because its so expensive Im going to start using it when I get bigger, for now, I just use regular lotion. Just keeping it moist helps with the itching too because honestly, nothing can really prevent the marks. :(

  10. I've heard that its just important to stay hydrated and moisturized, so that your skin has more elasticity. I personally used cocoa butter and drank lots of water. It seemed to work for me, no stretch marks:) But I did have to make more trips to the bathroom!

  11. Sadly, I have no advice. My entire stomach is covered with these lovely things. I've heard that it has to do with skin type, which is hereditary. So, if your mom had them, most likely you'll have them. Thanks Mom! :)
