As many of you know I was giving Jonathan a hard time last week for the way in which he put away his clothes. Well, I have been chastised via the Ensign through and small story in this months issue entitled "Toothpaste on the Mirror." If you have the magazine and find yourself also getting worked up about petty things that your spouse does I highly recommend reading this short but to the point article. It's on page 23 and it is by Bryce R. Petersen. In a nutshell it reminded me that in life there are much greater problems and concerns that one should focus their time and energy on. Which leads me to my second point in this entry. Sadly this past weekend Jon's boss died in a car accident as he traveled back to Arizona from L.A. Jon and I both found out about it this morning and my heart goes out to his poor family. He was only 30 and his wife is due to have their 3rd child next month. Naturally I am very saddened and broken hearted for this poor woman since I myself am due to give birth any day now. It's unfortunate that we sometimes need events like this to make us truly appreciate what we have and to treasure the moments and time we are given with the ones we love. I am so grateful for my husband and the baby we are being blessed with. I hope I can always remember to love them with all my heart and to not let one day go by without expressing my love for them. Life is too short and unpredictable to worry about toothpaste on mirrors or poorly folded clothes. I hope we all appreciate our families and express our love to them on a regular basis.

Putting things in perspective

Bless your heart sweetheart. Ill send you an e-mail.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that! And thank you for the reminder that we need to appreciate our spouses... been needing to re-focus my own thoughts lately... *hugs and prayers your way - and Jon's boss's family's way*
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad. I often think about my cousin Derek who passed away in his early 30's and his wife was due any day with their fourth little girl. The day after the funeral she lost the baby. I think about that and count my blessings. My kids are here and they are healthy, and my husband will be with me for eternity. I will add their family to my prayers.
ReplyDeleteSo sad! I thought about it all day yesterday after you told me. It really makes you think about the possible things that could happen and how sad it would be. There was an article years ago in an "Era" entitled "If Only". Sad sad story about a girl who was mean to her little brother and then came home from school to find his bike all mangled and he had been killed by a car. Then it was all about if only she had said this or if only she had done that. It made me cry then and makes me cry now just thinking about the remorse she felt for not showing the love she should have. I wish I could find it again. It was a great story and one I'll always remember. WE NEED TO LOVE EACH OTHER AND SHOW IT! ALWAYS

ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to his family! We are so blessed. I am lucky to have you as a friend! Take care, -T-
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder to not let petty things get in the way of being grateful for each other!
ReplyDeleteOh - that is so sad! I try to remember that I would miss seeing socks on the floor, etc. if he wasn't here anymore.
ReplyDeleteI need to read that article too. That is awful news about Jon's boss. I'm at a loss of words. It is interesting how things like that make you put your own life in check. Remember to always tell your husband how much you love him every day!
ReplyDeleteAmen. So sorry to hear about Jon's boss. I can't even imagine what his family must be going through. A little almost 2 year old boy in our playgroup drowned a few weeks ago and it just devastated me along with everyone else here. At the funeral, his parents talked about how important it is to have the right perspective with our kids and loved ones. Ever since then I have been so thankful for my little "O". It's so easy to forget and get frustrated with little things, but it just isn't worth it!
