Summer break activities.

Well, we've officially begun our first week of summer break. Knowing Rowan would go insane without activities- and knowing he would make me crazy if I didn't provide activities- I have made it a goal to at least get him out or set up an activity on Tuesdays and Thursdays, since those are the days he had school.  Time to put all those Pinterest ideas to use!
This was one Pinterest idea.  Put paint in a ziploc bag, tape it to the table with a piece of white paper under it, and let them go to town.  Mess free, easy clean up.  Sweet.  It didn't entertain Rowan for as long as I would have liked, but hey, I had fun with it later!

An activity he did enjoy for a long time was playing in the dirt by the garden.  BY the garden, not in it.  He actually came up with this idea on his own.  He was just playing in the yard, but then he found this hole where dad had been digging, and he chilled in it for a good hour playing with his Transformers.  Course now we are seriously considering building him a sandbox for his birthday.
This morning he found some of his bubbles, so we finally made it outside to play with them after lunch.  Most of the soap ended up on the cement, but he was so proud when he got a couple bubbles.  The bubble fun ended when he decided to smear a whole bunch of the solution onto the couch.  I have an art project planned for Thursday that I am pretty excited about.  Fun for him, and useful for me since it will provide a custom art piece for his room!  Maybe this summer break wont be so bad after all.
