He got his Tucano's free birthday meal postcard in the mail at the beginning of the month, and he certainly wasn't insisting we go, especially after our weekend from hell, but considering we only go there once a year and it will probably be our last date before the baby arrives, I got a babysitter Saturday, and off we went. I admit, not a good place to go when you are 37 weeks pregnant and have no room in your belly, but hey, I sacrificed for the birthday boy! ( I swear he wore the same shirt last year when we went to Tucano's for his birthday.)
Sunday, his actual birthday, he woke up to balloons and a couple gifts, but Rowan and I were still in bed, and he had a meeting to get to, so when he got home we were ready and waiting. I had his breakfast ready, Life, his favorite. Rowan was super eager to help him open up his gifts. Rowan got him some of his favorite treats, and I got him some resistance bands that he insists will get him motivated to start working out again.
After church I made him dinner and invited his friend Mike to join us since his wife and son are in Spain for a couple weeks. The real surprise for Jon came later in the evening when people started showing up at our house. I had invited friends to join us for cake and ice-cream and encouraged them to share stories about Jon, the more embarrassing the better. I picked up Jon's favorite chocolate cake from Costco and had our friends keep it in their fridge until Sunday so Jon wouldn't get suspicious.
I also made Jon wear a huge pin that said "birthday boy." And yes, now all my boys will have to wear it every year on their birthdays.
Group shot, minus Mike who had left by this point. It was a fun weekend, and I had a good time surprising the birthday boy.

AWESOME!! You did it up good girlfriend!!!
