cake for breakfast

don't judge.
These are the sorts of things that happen in a household of 3 when only 2 of the 3 can eat solids.
It is something that has to be done to ensure that food doesn't get wasted.
How is that for a good excuse?
Then again, I suppose I could just not make a huge cake.
But really, where is the fun in that?

today's addiction

This is all I have eaten today, besides the Frosted Mini-Wheats I had for breakfast.
homemade tortilla chips & homemade salsa

SALSA RECIPE
ingredients: tomatoes, peppers, onion, garlic, cilantro, limes, and salt.

how-to: boil tomatoes, peppers, onion, and garlic for about 15 minutes. Take out ingredients with tongs and place in food processor/blender. Add in cilantro, limes, and salt to taste.

** It's kind of trial and error thing as to how much of each ingredient to add. Depends on your taste buds really. I would suggest using a food processor if you have it. I don't have one so I used a blender. Still good, but very pureed. I like pureed, but Jon prefers chunky. For my first batch I used 5 roma tomatoes, 1 small onion, 2 jalapeno peppers, 2 cloves garlic, and kept adding cilantro, lime juice, and salt until it suited my taste buds.

TORTILLA CHIPS

ingredients:
flour tortillas, conola oil, salt, and chili powder (optional)

how-to: cut tortilla(s) into 8 triangles. Brush conola oil over each triangle. Sprinkle with salt and chili powder (optional), and place on baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350, or until golden brown.

(** special thanks to Gladiz for the salsa recipe!)

ding! ding! ding!

we have a winner!
PRUNES. The kid likes prunes, who'd a thought?
I'm happy and excited we have found a food he's willing & eager to swallow, but I'm a little nervous about tomorrow's diaper...

Rowan, food. Food, Rowan.

OK, so their first introduction wasn't great.

I know Rowan doesn't need rice cereal or baby mush yet, but when the doctor gave me the go ahead to try some food I was excited, so I did. Seems he isn't a fan. So, for now we will stick to the milk and try again in a month or two.

My Steal of the Day!

I was pleasantly surprised as I walked the produce "isle" of the grocery store this afternoon and came across beautiful & delicious looking strawberries. The best part was that they were only $1 a box! I swear I can never buy strawberries because they always seem expensive. So today when I came across this sweet deal I bought four and have already finished 1! YUM!
